An exciting new committee to help raise critical funds, awareness, and volunteer support for The Door’s social justice work. Read on to learn more.

The Door is thrilled to announce the launch of its new Advisory Committee. In close collaboration with The Door’s Development team and organizational leadership, the Committee will work to raise critical funds, awareness, and volunteer support for The Door’s comprehensive and unique programming, which touches the lives of over 11,000 young New Yorkers each year. Comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds and fields who are passionate about social justice, youth development, and non-profit leadership, the Advisory Committee will be instrumental in helping to advance The Door’s mission.

The Advisory Committee is set to convene for the first time in the fall, but the work behind its creation has been several years in the making. Says Kelsey Louie, CEO of The Door and Broome Street Academy, “The Committee will give some of our strongest allies the chance to forge a deeper connection to our work and leverage their personal skill-sets and talents to benefit our programs, and ultimately our youth.”

The launch of the Committee also overlaps with a significant milestone for the organization: The Door’s 50th anniversary. “As we look back on all that The Door has achieved since 1972, we’ll also be looking ahead to make sure our youth have everything they need to succeed post-pandemic, and into the next 50 years,” says Louie. “The Advisory Committee will be an important part of this work.”

The Door is currently reaching out to candidates, and a full list of Advisory Committee members will be announced in Fall 2021. For anyone interested in learning more, please contact Development Officer Hannah Berry at hberry@door.org.
