The Temporary Part Time Membership Associate is responsible, in collaboration with other Member Services staff, for assisting with all aspects of membership, including providing support to student interns, welcoming, screening, and orienting new Door members, maintaining data, ensuring clear and consistent referral processes both internally and externally, and tracking member participation in Door activities. The Temporary Part Time Membership Associate, as a part of the Member Services team, serves a valuable role within the Mental Health and Personal Development department and the agency as a whole, working to integrate services and facilitate the support of volunteers and the engagement of young people in appropriate programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish a youth-friendly, customer service oriented tone to welcome young people
  • In conjunction with agency staff, track referrals from membership and member engagement in accordance with contractual obligations
  • Assist with coordination of continued follow-up with new members
  • In conjunction with other Member Services staff, ensure the timely and accurate maintenance of all paperwork and new member data associated with The Door’s membership process
  • In conjunction with other Member Services staff, develop and maintain the external referral database, assist and connect youth and staff to external resources
  • In conjunction with other Member Services staff, provide daily management and monitoring of membership services provided to young people (i.e., appointments, intake, orientation, and follow-up)
  • Support in training and overseeing volunteer and student intern intake counselors
  • Conference with student intern intake counselors to assure appropriate interventions and referrals
  • Ensure that internal referrals are appropriate, clear and communicated to interns and staff
  • Serve as the membership point person for gathering and maintaining up-to-date programmatic and referral information for internal agency referrals
  • Provide information about Door services and make appointments for services for members
  • Perform intake interviews with new members as needed
  • Create system numbers, complete registration and orientation processes as needed
  • Operate the photo ID system to make IDs and train new interns appropriately on this process.
  • Order and maintain supplies
  • Participate in interdisciplinary planning and implementation of agency-wide programming and events
  • Maintain all agency reporting requirements
  • Complete any additional responsibilities and functions as assigned by supervisor
  • Participate in agency-wide initiatives as required by supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or the equivalent preferred
  • Experience working with urban youth, and sensitivity to the needs and interests of the diverse young people who comprise The Door’s membership population
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply positive youth development principles to working with young people
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, and ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Mandarin preferred but not required

Salary: $22/hour
Hours: 20 hours per week
