Responsibilities:
OUTREACH & RECRUITMENT

  • In collaboration with the Director of Admissions, maintain, foster, and build relationships with agencies serving youth experiencing homelessness and/or involved in the foster care system
  • Work closely with the Admissions Team to publicize enrollment opportunities
  • Maintain contact with other professional service providers for the purpose of case review or consultation regarding services to a specific client
  • Build and maintain effective communication with social service agencies and organizations to help ensure deep relationships with Broome Street Academy for the purposes student recruitment
  • Assist Director of Admissions with any and all recruitment related activities connected to Priority Populations
  • Articulate the mission and vision of Broome Street academy to diverse audiences and stakeholders

CASEWORK, DOCUMENTATION, & PLANNING

  • In collaboration with the Director of Social Work, maintain an accurate roster and status on all current students who have a priority population designation
  • Attend all relevant team meetings
  • Maintain effective communication and rapport with students, staff, and caregivers
  • Confer with caregivers and outside agencies as needed around issues related to the functioning of youth in a high school setting
  • Assist in developing natural support networks for BSA students experiencing a severe emotional disturbance in their families

OTHER

  • Perform other duties assigned as a member of the BSA community

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s in a related field preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with adolescents, families, professionals and other personnel from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds
  • Comfort operating in urban government, non-profit and institutional settings
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate thoughtfully and effectively both verbally and written is required
  • Strong ability to present at conferences and meetings required
  • Experience with adolescents preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Outlook required. Microsoft Excel knowledge preferred
  • A friendly, engaging, outgoing and professional demeanor is required

Full time 40 hrs/wk
