Union Organizer, Actor, and U.S. Senate Candidate Hill Harper To Serve as Our 2023 Fall Gala Emcee

The Door and Broome Street Academy are proud and excited to have single father, lawyer, union organizer, actor, author, business owner, and U.S. Senate candidate Hill Harper serve as our emcee at our Fall Gala on October 18, 2023.

An award-winning actor, Harper played starring roles in the hit series CSI: NY and The Good Doctor. Throughout his life, Harper has always kept alive his lifelong passion for public service. He campaigned as a top surrogate for his Harvard Law School classmate, President Barack Obama, and later sat on President Obama’s Cancer Panel. Public service was also the driving force behind Harper’s best-selling books aimed at empowering marginalized young people and his establishment of a charitable foundation that empowers young people to achieve their dreams through scholarships, mentorships, and grants.

Today, Harper is running for U.S. Senate in the state of Michigan because he believes the depth of the challenges facing our nation demands independence over conformity, and service over personal ambition.
