Runaway & Homeless Youth
The Door has long been a safe place for young people experiencing housing instability. Drop-in services are available in both our Bronx and Manhattan locations. (See details below.) No appointments or referral are necessary. Young people can walk in to access a wide range of basic needs—laundry, food, showers, clothing, hygiene supplies—and can connect with caring staff, both in-person and virtually, who support them in navigating immediate crisis needs and longer-term connection to resources and housing.
The Door also operates two Lower East Side supportive housing sites for young people 18–24 years old, which provide 24/7 staffing and resources for residents. For more information on qualifications for these sites, see our Supportive Housing page.
